Mohandas K. Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869. Since 1999, we have celebrated with a free, public, multicultural event.

The program includes musical and dance performances; prayers, speeches, and chanting from a cross-section of Utah's religious leaders; the ceremonial planting of a tree; and the main event, the presentation of the annual Gandhi Peace Award to an individual recognized for their contributions in the areas of nonviolence, human rights, and peaceful resolution of conflict.

See this article about Gandhi and his birthday celebrations.  See info about this year's celebration here or like us on Facebook (facebook.com/gandhialliance) to get info.
